Jainardhan Sathyan Presents ‘Ice: The Movie’

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Veteran film producer Jainardhan Sathyan takes on the politics and drama of figure skating in the new film “Ice: The Movie,” now streaming on Amazon.

“There were many challenges over a period of two years for the production which had a different crew for different locations and mixed types of cameras and equipment used for filming. But all the performances were shot in large empty stadiums without any crowds, so we had hundreds of visual effects shots were tough and tricky,” Sathyan said.

Directed by Peter Paul Basler, the film is based upon the true story of figure skater Maddison Bullock, who portrays the lead character, Bailey Grantham, and who also wrote and served as executive producer of the film. The movie tells the story of single father Nick Grantham (Patrick O’Brien Demsey) who is approached by a famed Russian figure skating coach (Michael Monks) with the opportunity to train his only daughter Bailey (Bullock) alongside skating prodigy Peyton Shaw (Lisa Mihelich) for a shot at figure skating’s ultimate prize.

“The strongest message of the movie was how sports teaches you how to overcome adversities,” Sathyan said. “But there’s also the parallel themes highlighting the importance of a ‘mentor-mentee’ relationship and the importance of family support on your path to success.”

“Ice: The Movie” arrives to Amazon having been voted among the top 10 ice skating movies by a poll of fans by U.S. Figure Skating, the sport’s ruling body in the U.S.

The film is the newest for Sathyan whose work includes such films as “The Matchmaker’s Playbook,” “The Trouble with Mistletoe,” “God’s Club” and many others.

“My first film project in Hollywood was Harvey’s Dream, based on the legendary author Stephen King’s story,” he said. “I produced and directed it and the movie won more than 25 awards globally at various international film festivals.”

Meanwhile, Sathyan is today producing the pilot for the proposed series “Black Kung Fu Chick,” as well as working on developing other film projects.

See Something Wrong? Have A Suggestion?

Though the Beta testing is well in the past, we at Max It are always working to improve the site, keep the gears oiled, and all around tinker to improve the experience for both the indie filmmakers that submit content, as well as the indie film lovers that drop in for their daily fix.

Just like suspicious activity, we ask that if you see something wrong, have a suggestion, or would just like to tell us just what you like or dislike about the site, you let us know.

We've a lot of things still to add (No Peeking Behind The Curtain!), but we want to make sure what is current online is working without issues. To do this each day we'll add more articles, tweak a feature here, remove a feature there. Just to keep things moving along in the right direction.

To let us know of anything, just click on Contact in the Main Menu at the top and give us as detailed a description of the problem, or suggestion and we'll do our best to look to see if and how it can be fixed, or added!

As always, we thank you for your support!
