Detours To Premiere At Sunscreen Film Festival

Saint Petersburg, Florida & Jersey City, New Jersey

Indie road trip comedy Detours is set for its world premiere at the 11th annual Sunscreen Film Festival, April 28-May 1. The movie’s climactic scenes were shot on Tampa Bay and in Saint Petersburg, site of the Sunscreen Film Festival.

Detours is the story of a newly single New Yorker (Tara Westwood) who must re-locate to Florida for her dream job. She drives with her widowed dad (Carlo Fiorletta), her mom’s ashes in a coffee can, and a GPS with a mind of its own.

Westwood, who also produced, starred in writer/producer Mara Lesemann’s previous feature Surviving Family. She can be seen in the second season of FX’s Dennis Leary comedy Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll. She has also guest-starred in numerous television series, including Blue Bloods.

Fiorletta starred in indie romantic comedy Available and recently guest starred at NYC’s Upright Citizens Brigade East Village.

The supporting cast of Detours, Directed by Robert McCaskill (Hetrosexuals), includes Richard Kind (Inside Out), Paul Sorvino (Goodfellas), Michael Cerveris (TONY award winner for Fun Home), and Phyllis Somerville (Little Children). Cerveris also contributed several songs to the soundtrack.

“We’re thrilled to premiere Detours in beautiful Saint Petersburg, which is a wonderful location to shoot a movie,” said Lesemann. “The combination of terrific actors and a great soundtrack make this a story that moviegoers will embrace.”

See Something Wrong? Have A Suggestion?

Though the Beta testing is well in the past, we at Max It are always working to improve the site, keep the gears oiled, and all around tinker to improve the experience for both the indie filmmakers that submit content, as well as the indie film lovers that drop in for their daily fix.

Just like suspicious activity, we ask that if you see something wrong, have a suggestion, or would just like to tell us just what you like or dislike about the site, you let us know.

We've a lot of things still to add (No Peeking Behind The Curtain!), but we want to make sure what is current online is working without issues. To do this each day we'll add more articles, tweak a feature here, remove a feature there. Just to keep things moving along in the right direction.

To let us know of anything, just click on Contact in the Main Menu at the top and give us as detailed a description of the problem, or suggestion and we'll do our best to look to see if and how it can be fixed, or added!

As always, we thank you for your support!
